Privacy Policy
The short version: your files never leave your device. I never receive them, and neither does anyone else.
The short version
Your files are never uploaded. They are processed entirely inside your browser, on your own device. I never receive them, never store them, and never see them.
This policy is short because there is very little to describe. Most of it is a list of things this site does not do.
Files you open with these tools
Files never leave your device. When you open a PDF, image, video or audio file here, it is read into your browser's memory and edited there. The result is written straight back to your downloads folder.
No copy is sent anywhere. There is no server that receives files, so there is nothing to retain, nothing to delete afterwards, and nothing that could be exposed in a breach of this site. The same is true of anything you type into a tool — the text you enter to redact from a PDF, for instance, is used in the tab and goes no further.
Personal data collected
I collect none of it myself. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, no contact form storing what you write, no comments and no advertising. I hold no database of users, because there are no users to hold.
The one exception is the analytics described below, which is handled by Google rather than by me and which I only ever see as aggregate numbers. Nothing I have, and nothing they have, includes your files.
Cookies
The analytics described below sets cookies, which is how it tells a returning visitor from a new one. They record how you move around this site. They contain nothing about your files, and they cannot: the analytics script and your document never meet.
The site also uses your browser's local storage to remember small preferences, such as which tool panel you last had open. That information stays in your browser, is readable only by this site, is never transmitted, and is cleared when you clear your browsing data.
Analytics
I use Google Analytics to count page views and see which tools people actually use, so I know what to fix and what to build next. It tells me which pages were visited, roughly which country from, and what kind of device and browser. Google processes that data as described in their own privacy policy, and it is subject to their cookies and their cross-site tracking.
What it cannot see is your files. The analytics script runs in the page; your document is opened and edited by code that never hands it to anything else. No file name, no page content, no image and no part of a document you open is measured, transmitted or available to Google. That is a property of how the tools are built, not a setting.
If you would rather not be counted, any standard content blocker will stop it, and every tool on the site works exactly the same either way.
Hosting and server logs
The site is static files served by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical information needed to deliver a page to you and to protect against attacks, which includes your IP address. I do not have access to a log of individual visitors. See Cloudflare's own privacy documentation for what they retain.
Third parties
Google Analytics, described above, is the only third party this site talks to. Everything the tools themselves need — the fonts, the PDF and compression libraries — is served from this domain rather than from a CDN.
Your files are shared with nobody, including Google. They are not sold, not sent to advertising networks or data brokers, and not passed to social platforms, because they are never transmitted anywhere at all.
Children
The site is suitable for general audiences and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data an organisation holds about you. In this case the answer is straightforward: I hold none, so there is nothing to hand over or erase. You are welcome to ask and I will confirm it.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the bottom of this page changes with it. If a future version ever involved sending your files somewhere — which is not planned, and would defeat the purpose of the site — it would be stated plainly at the top of this page and on the tool itself, not buried here.
